JUMPING DISCS

These little metal discs are bimetallic - they are made from two different metals - and this enables them to perform an amazing physics trick!

The disc is slightly curved, and if you heat the disc in your hands you can then 'pop' the disk so that it bends the other way. You then place it on a flat surface, and it starts to cool. As it cools, the disc will, sooner or later, revert to the initial configuration. When this happens, the disc jumps several feet in the air!

These discs were originally supplied by Edmund Scientific in New Jersey some 15-20 years ago. When the man in charge of the operation sadly passed away, nobody knew how to produce the discs anymore. Now a new designer has started making them again.

HOW DO THEY WORK?

The discs are an interesting example of differential expansion. The disc is a bimetal, having stainless steel on one side and invar on the other. Invar is a nickel-iron alloy containing 36% nickel. This alloy has a very low coefficient of linear expansion by comparison with the stainless steel.

Heat causes the bimetal disc to expand and cooling makes it contract. Since the two surfaces expand and contract at highly different rates in response to changes in temperature, it is possible to 'lock' the disc in the loaded position when it is hot; then, as the disc cools, the increasing tension will eventually cause it to jump into the air as it reverts to its original shape!

STICK-UM CANDLE ADHESIVE

Ever wondered how the "pros" keep candles in candle holders?

For years they have used STICK-UM!

Stick-um is a very useful product for keeping candles standing straight. It is most commonly used on the bottom of taper candles when the holder is too large for the candle to fit tightly down in. This causes the taper candle to lean. Simply placing a pea size ball of stick-um candle adhesive in the bottom of the candle holders will keep you tapers standing straight. GLOW-IN-THE-DARK SPRAY

Large can contains 8 fl oz. (226 grams). The easy way to make your t-shirts and other clothing GLOW-IN-THE-DARK! Great fun for costume parties, nightclubs, Halloween, dance and theatrical productions.

Can be used on any moisture-absorbent fabric. Dries naturally and ready-to-wear within about half an hour. To glow in the dark, the painted item needs to be charged under light for at least 10 minutes. It will then glow for approximately 30 minutes before needing to be recharged again under light for 10 minutes. Glow in the dark will work on the fabric until it is washed.

We have tried BLUE Tekno Bubbles in the majority of bubble fluids available in Australia with success. However we strongly suggest you use our GF Bubble Fluid Concentrate.

Gold Tekno Bubbles only works in specific bubble fluids. We have not found a commonly used Bubble Fluid in Australia that will produce the gold effect. It will however work in our GF Bubble fluid. If you use GOLD Tekno Bubbles in a standard fluid you will get the blue effect.

RUBBER GLASS

Rubber Glass is NOT breakaway glass. It is the product to use when you want to simulate ice or diamonds.

Over 1.5 tonnes of Rubber Glass was used in “Die Another Day”. Any time you see an actor in proximity to glass, it is in fact Rubber Glass that is being used to create the effect. Rubber Glass was first used in the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” series and has been used in films like “Godzilla”, “The Matrix”, “Spider Man” and in commercials for Coke and Beer. The rubber glass is supplied as a slab which you can easily crumble into the size you want.

STAGE BLOOD THICKENER

Stage Blood thickener is a special coagulating powder designed specifically for thickening our stage blood.

Our standard stage blood is supplied at a viscosity that mimics true running blood. STAGE BLOOD Thickener is added to produce a thicker consistency that can be made to run a lot slower, or stay in place when applied vertically to the skin.
It does not harden the blood, just stiffens it slightly. The natural colours within the powders produce a similar darkening effect that occurs when real blood congeals.
Blood will come off onto clothing if brushed against, so will stain and can be difficult to wash from some materials.

All the ingredients are natural plant-based products of the finest quality. There is no gelatin in any of our products.

SLIME

As used in movies. When you need that great body fluid, ectoplasm effect! "I've been slimed!"

Birthing effects, aliens etc. Our slime is not "runny", but a very realistic stringy slime.

It can however be thinned with water. Not for internal use. Does not contain Methocel.

Safe food grade products used to make this product. Manufactured by Geelong Fireworks. Stringy Style is an excellent professional grade ooze, slime, and goo product for simulating any type of bodily fluids, discharges or sticky type substances. It makes very tacky and stringy type slime threads when pulled and applied. It's also very economical, and comparable in quality to other slime products that sell for twice as much.

Whether you need artificial mucous, drool, snot, saliva, pus, or other disgusting or nasty looking secretions, this stuff easily adheres and stays put to just about anything, including silicone.

It's used by many productions to create gross and very organic looking slimy effects in scenes where body fluids are required, and that realistically moves and stretches where needed. Excellent to use for casualty simulations that call for ooze effects from wounds as well as bodily discharges from biological and chemical exposure. It can even simulate birthing fluids.
